Even Here, God Is With You

Scripture:
“Though he slay me, yet will I hope in him.”
—Job 13:15a (NIV)

Sometimes when life falls apart, the loudest question in our hearts is: Where is God in all of this?

Pain has a way of blurring our vision. And when the hits come fast and furious—one after another—it’s easy to feel forgotten, unseen, or even punished. Job knew this kind of suffering. One minute he was surrounded by abundance, and the next, messenger after messenger delivered unthinkable news: loss, destruction, and death.

He didn’t ask for this.
He didn’t expect this.
And he certainly didn’t understand it.

At first, Job’s friends responded well. They wept with him and sat in silence for seven days. They didn’t try to fix it—they just were there. But then they opened their mouths. And what started as comfort quickly turned into condemnation. Their words, meant to explain, only deepened the wound. They moved from being burden bearers to burden givers.

Maybe you’ve experienced the same. Maybe people who meant well ended up piling on more pain—suggesting that your hardship was somehow your fault or that God was punishing you.

Let this truth settle deep in your soul: God is not absent in your pain. He’s not indifferent to your tears. He doesn’t demand that you understand everything—He simply asks you to trust that He is still with you, even here.

In the middle of your grief.
In the swirl of confusion.
In the silence after prayer.
Even here—God is with you.

And if hardship has made you question your identity or worth, let this remind you: Your Worth Is Not Up for Debate. What you’re going through doesn’t define who you are—God does.

Job’s story reminds us that it’s okay not to have all the answers. God welcomes your questions, your raw emotions, and even your wrestling. Because even in the ashes, His presence is real. Even in the confusion, His love remains.
